Late Night with the Devil

Late Night with the Devil: A Hilariously Horrific Recap

Picture this: It’s 1977, and the world is blissfully unaware that live television and demonic forces do not mix well. Enter Late Night with the Devil, a late-night talk show that promises to be a delightful mix of charm, laughs, and maybe a few too many bad puns. Spoiler alert: It’s more the “devil” part that makes it memorable!

Our host, portrayed by the ever-so-charismatic David Dastmalchian, is your typical 70s talk show guy, complete with a slicked-back hairstyle and a wardrobe that screams “I’m here to entertain you, but also haunt your nightmares.” The show kicks off with the usual banter, celebrity guests, and a healthy dose of audience applause. But wait! This isn’t just any ordinary night – it’s Halloween! And you know what that means? It’s time to unleash some unspeakable horrors on live television!

As the show progresses, Dastmalchian’s character, Jack Delroy, decides to invite a psychic medium onto the set. Because when you’re live on air, what could go wrong with summoning spirits? Spoiler alert: Everything. The medium, who seems to have taken a few too many shots of ectoplasm, inadvertently opens a portal to the underworld. Whoops! The audience at home gets a front-row seat to the chaos, and it’s not the kind of chaos you want to see while munching on snacks.

Suddenly, the lights flicker, the audience members start acting all possessed (and not in the fun “let’s do the monster mash” way), and the studio becomes a playground for the supernatural. Ghostly apparitions start popping up like unwanted guests at a party, and Jack finds himself battling more than just awkward silences and bad jokes. There’s a clown that’s less funny and more terrifying than you’d expect, and let’s just say his face paint is the least of your worries.

In classic horror fashion, things go from bad to worse. Jack’s crew is slowly picked off one by one, and the studio transforms into a horror movie set, complete with creepy sound effects that would make even the bravest soul jump. And just when you think it can’t get any crazier, a possessed audience member begins to spew out some seriously sinister stuff. Talk about a ratings boost!

As the night spirals out of control, Jack tries to maintain his composure while simultaneously dodging evil spirits and desperately trying to keep the show on the air. It’s like trying to juggle chainsaws while riding a unicycle on a tightrope over a pit of alligators. Spoiler: He doesn’t do it gracefully.

In a twisted climax, Jack confronts the very source of the evil unleashed during the broadcast. It’s a showdown that’s equal parts hilarious and horrifying, as he learns that sometimes the real monsters are the ones that come out when the cameras are rolling. The audience is left with a cliffhanger that screams, “What just happened?”

By the end of the night, viewers are left with more questions than answers. Did Jack survive? What about his crew? And more importantly, how does one clean up after a demon invasion on live TV? Spoiler alert: It’s a messy affair.

So, if you’re in the mood for a film that combines the charm of a 70s talk show with the chaos of a horror movie, Late Night with the Devil is your ticket to a wild ride. Just remember: next time you think about tuning into a live broadcast, maybe stick to the news. At least there, the only thing haunting you will be the weather report.
